Forum Marketing
Finding the right forums
Creating users in your selected forums
Check the user agreement and posting guidelines
Forum marketing is a great way to make you stand out from the crowd. Forum users are generally net savv and open to making online purchases . Many forum users are also respected experts and bloggers in the specific topics covered by the forum. Forum marketing is a high ROI strategy because making a good impression in front of this savv y and influential audience
can help y our marketing message spread far and wide.
You need to focus on finding the authority forums in your specific niche, where your prospects / online communities hang out. Tools
: Google Search- "ENTER YOUR NICHE NAME + Forum" Board Reader Board Tracker
it is really important to create your user accounts because the privileges that new users have in some forums.
During the registration process you will be asked to agree to the forum's user agreement and pos ting guidelines . Read this e rules and guidelines carefully. There is a lot of boilerplate legal language in this e documents , so it is tempting to just skip over them and click yes without reading. However, many forums have unique guidelines that you need to pay attention to. Some of the most important issues to look for include:
Picking a good user name and avatars-
Your user name is the first thing other users will notice about you. Picking a user name that is easy to remember and pronounce. Using your real name might be appropriate, especially if your name is closely identified with your brand. Stay away from bizarre number combination or weird m is spellings. you can't pick user names that only have meaning for you but would otherwise be nonsensical to everyone else. Avatars are small pictures attached to all of our posts . A good head s hot of us we also need avoid using any pictures that might be considered offensive or controversial .(tic k et2final logo can be great just if we will use it for official purposes.
Are users allowed to place links in their posts? Are users allowed to promote their own businesses? Are users allowed to post commercial messages i n their signatures? Are users allowed to contact other members for commercial purposes? What restrictions are placed on new users? What special privileges are given to veteran users?

Create a compelling profile
Spend some time lurking
Make valuable contributions to the Website address in your signature
You need to stay away from drama!!
Creating win-win marketing campaigns
A good profile can help you establish credibility on the forum. Provide a solid description of our expertise and experience. you also need to add to your profiles some information to create credibility . The last thing you want is to add information such as politic al or religious affiliation that will make your brand less neutral and compelling. You need to provide contact information so other users can get in touch with you if they are interested in learning m ore about your services. A lot of spammers and identity thieves search through forums for personal information. Therefore, you should only s hare information you wouldn't mind being made public , such as a throwaway webmail address.
Many forums encourage new users to introduce themselves to the community by making an introductory post. This is usually done in threads especialy designated for welcoming new members . These threads are usually called some variation of "Say Hi Here," "How Did You Find Us ," or " New Members Check In Here." Your introductory post should include a brie f description of your service expertise and an explanation of why we joined the forum. you need to let the other users know that y our main goal is to contribute to and learn from the community . The worst thing to do is to make any marketing pitches in your first post. If you will try to sell anything in your first post, you will very likely get banned.
Resist the urge to s tart posting right away . Forums are tight-knit communities that tend to shun and haze newcomers. You need to spend some time reading the forum to get a sense of the community ' s special quirk s and cultural norms . Figure out who the influential users are and note which topics are perennial favorites . Learning this information will help you fit in more quickly.
This is the key to success full forum marketing. Whenever anyone asks a question related to y our products or services dazzle them with incredibly useful answers . These situations are opportunities to demonstrate our expertise and to generate good will . You need to back up your advice with links to trusted sources , and res pond to follow up questions quickly. At start, you will leave out our sales pitch. Any hint of bias in our initial posts will eras e all of y our hard work. By keeping your answers objective, the entire community will start thinking of you as a trusted expert. They will soon s tart asking you for your recommendations . When you get direct inquiries for recommendations you m ay then safely mention your service without appearing biased.
Forum signatures are blocks of text or graphic that is attached to the end of all y our posts . Most people use signatures to display their favorite quotes or link s to their favorite websites . Some forums also allow users to use signatures to promote their own websites. If you are in a forum that allows self-promotional signatures , you need to make sure you will take full advantage of this opportunity. You can' t abuse this opportunity by putting flashy images or long advertising messages in y our signature. An ac curate, short description of your business / service and a link to y our website is the best way to go
You can't get drawn into heated arguments . It would be a shame to get banned jus t because you started arguing whether Hans hot first with some 14-y ear-old kid from Scranton. Here' s how you can avoid the drama
Constantly remind ourselves that your mission here is to build good will for your business. You need to stay away from charged topics like politics or religion. Resist the urge to respond to criticism. You need to use emoticons to indicate when you are being facetious. To end discussions the moment you sense that it is getting contentious.
Once you have the respect of the users you c an s tart more aggressive marketing campaigns . You need to focus on marketing techniques that provide a benefit for the forum community . For example, you can always offer the forum members special discounts, free samples , or fun contests . you also want to make sure to get the permission of the forum' s moderators before you start these campaigns.

I will however, do my best to also list places for you to get similar resources for free. Keep in mind, I strongly suggest going for the paid options in lieu of the free resources if your budget allows for it. And finally, these resources are based on my preferences. This really comes down to personal preferences and ease of use. There is no right or wrong here, only what works best for you in function and budget. I will do my best to give your not only what I prefer, but also what many of Other top marketers I know use.
